Support Your Temple

We all know that Temple Sinai needs your support to do its work for the Reform Jewish community. Here are some of the ways you can help:

  • Volunteer: First and foremost, by making a gift of your valuable time you can make an enormous difference. The Temple always needs extra hands, whether it's to usher at services, decorate for the holidays, serve on a committee, or help others on an individual basis. Our community is composed of you, its people. Check out the links at the left and you're certain to find something you can do.

  • Dues: Paying your dues on time is the most obvious way to support the Temple. Not only does it enable us to pay our expenses in a timely fashion, but it lets us budget in a more realistic way.

  • Building Campaign Pledges: The renovated building is a rousing success, greatly admired by everyone who has seen it; but the work didn't end on rededication weekend. In order to complete our financial work, we need those pledge dollars to become real dollars. Simply by pre-paying your pledge, you can increase its value! The Temple can benefit from the interest that we save on the construction loans, and the numbers would surprise you. Just by paying off your complete pledge, rather than doing it month by month, you can make a big difference.

  • Special funds and campaigns: There are several separate funds set up for specific purposes, such as the Rabbi's Discretionary Fund.

  • Gifts of Listed Securities: You can save on your taxes in two ways by donating appreciated securities to the Temple. Neither you nor the Temple has to pay capital gains on the securities, yet you still can count the current market value of the securities as your charitable donation. Contact the Temple office or our Vice President of Investments for more information.

  • Shopping: We all buy things, whether it's candles for the menorah, gifts for the Bar or Bat Mitzvah, or clothing and housewares for yourself. You can do your shopping and direct a portion of your purchases to the Temple — just check out our shopping page.

  • Entertainment Books: The popular Entertainment Book of discount coupons is available from the office. New editions are available starting in August.
